The Skipper Plan Team Challenge was once again a great fight with some excellent teams put together by a number of clubs. This year in total we had 22 teams on the Main Duck Course and 14 teams on the Scotch Bonnet White sail course.

All yachts competing in the LO300 are ranked in their overall positioning within their fleet in a PRHF corrected time. Each team members placing is added up to give a total score for that team. The top 3 teams in both the Main Duck and the Scotch Bonnet White Sail course have won some much needed funds that will be applied to their clubs Junior Learn to Sail Programs on behalf of Skippers Plan Insurance.

Port Credit Yacht Club once again has won the Main Duck Course Team Challenge with teams placing in both first and second. The first place team was made up of the Archambault 35, a J35 Jeager, both new to the LO300 and Starchaser a Beneteau First 45, racing in its second 300. A great performance and congratulations

NYC placed third by only one point with a very strong showing.

The other two teams expecting to do well were the RCYC team and the 3rd PCYC team, which tied for 4th place.

NewCastle Yacht Club has won the Scotch Bonnet Course Team Challenge with a strong performance by Wind Dancer and Impromptu. Both boats have completed this race more than once and did a great job for their club’s Junior Program. Second place went to Frenchman’s Bay Yacht Club with Keego II and Seacastle. Third Place goes to a couple of season veterans to this race and past Champions from RCYC Southern CrossV and Gannet Cay.

The Scotch Bonnet Spinnaker Course is still a growing division and not enough clubs had multiple entries to form club teams. The winning team was a combined effort of Doralla from RCYC and Skeena from QCYC, who will split the prize money for their respective junior programs.

Sperry Cup Winner will be wearing a Championship Ring

Sperry Cup Championship RingSperry Top-Sider is pleased to introduce the Sperry Cup Championship ring for the Lake Ontario 300.

The Sperry Cup is a beautiful Stainless Steel trophy that was introduced for the overall champion combined IRC and PRHF Divisions. This trophy is part of Sperry Top-Siders long term commitment to the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge.

The 2010 Sperry Cup Champion will be the first to be awarded with a finely crafted custom designed Stainless Steel championship ring. This ring will be presented in a hand crafted keeper box made to match the base of the trophy.

This championship ring is definitely a point of difference from other major yacht races and will be an attractive keeper for this prestigious trophy. The LO300 already have the most attractive division flags offered each year by North Sails, which are a full colour stitched flag.

Sperry Top-Sider is once again sponsoring the Sperry Pre Race Breakfast, which will be complimentary to all race participants. This year coffee will be served at 6:00am to satisfy the needs of the early early birds, who just can’t wait.
